Rachel Manber, Ph.D.

Dr. Manber's research has focused on enhancing non-pharmacological treatments for depression and for insomnia. She has conducted research on psychotherapy for chronic depression, acupuncture for major depression, and cognitive behavioral treatments for insomnia. Combining her interest in these disorders, she is now focusing on ways to enhance the treatment of depression in individuals with sleep problems by addressing the symptoms of both depression and insomnia. Dr. Manber also has a strong interest in women's health, and her studies in this area include a federally funded controlled study of acupuncture and massage for depression during pregnancy and a controlled pilot study on acupuncture for postmenopausal hot flashes.
