Selection Criteria

 

Applicants to the program should have:

1. An M.D. and/or Ph.D. degree, be in the final year of residency or advanced postdoctoral position, or be at the junior faculty level for less than two years.

2. Clear commitment to a career in academic/research psychiatry.

3. A strong personal statement indicating how participation in this program will help to advance your academic career as a research investigator. Please indicate if you currently have independent funding and, if so, indicate the source of funding.

4. Commitment to participating in the entire 24-month program. Participants are expected to commit several hours per month for 2 years (January 2012 through December 2013) to fulfill the program requirements and attend a 4-day workshop in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, April 14-18, 2012. 5. Letter of recommendation from Department Chair, Institute Director, or your mentor stating a commitment to the applicant's career and support for the applicant to participate in the entire 24-month program. Letters should be addressed to the Career Development Institute Review Committee and uploaded as a PDF document as part of the application process.

7. All components of the electronic application must be completed prior to deadline: December 15, 2011. No incomplete applications will be accepted after the deadline.
